There are several people going out to shoot them over the next 3 days so please see the WPC Events forum for more details. July 26, 2010 Posted 1:35pm by: Dan The Winnipeg Photo Community and Photo Central are pleased to present the "Best of the WPC - Photo Gallery Contest #4". This includes the chance for up to 40 WPC members to display one of their photographs at our fourth and final gallery show which will be held at Photo Central from August 14 to August 27. The WPC/Photo Central galleries have been an ongoing collaboration for over two years now. They have helped to showcase our work, bring more interest in our community and also to get exposure for our members! Sadly this will be our 4th and final gallery with Photo Central as they are setting up a permanent gallery after our show. Check the WPC Contests Forum for more details. Thanks to all of those who still wanted to support the WPC and I apologize to all who I sent for a loop! April 1, 2010 Posted 1:23 am by: Dan Due to an extreme lack of participation by a huge amount of lurker users as well as from even some of the regular members, the WPC is now only for those who either contribute to the community on a regular, ongoing basis or those who pay for a membership. I'm extremely disappointed to have to do this, but after the last few months of having over 200 different people log in every day and somewhere in the area of 350-40 different people log in every month, but having such a sad amount of participation, this is the only way left to get people participating. There are about 35-45 members who post almost daily and about 80-100 who post at least monthly. Although this is good for a local niche community, it's still almost embarrassing to have so many more people "lurk" here, but contribute nothing. About 4x the amount of people who actually participate regularly just lurk and when this community is filled with extremely helpful information including a Professional Photography forum where you can ask anything from high end lighting techniques to pricing, it's sad that it's being used so greedily. There was a large variety of gear including: -Large format: Tim brought his 5x7 and Dan used his 4x5 -Medium format: Cory had a couple and Dan also used a Hasselblad 500c/m -35mm: Canon EOS Elan7, Nikon F5 and Pentax K1000 -AND a Canon P&S for Ash's little guy who quickly finished off his whole roll while exploring the area!
